Classes and Events


We put out a new class schedule every four months. Our classes are taught by local teachers who are knowledgable in their area of expertise.  We also bring in out of town teachers on a special event basis.  The best way to find out about these events is to sign up for our newsletters.  We post regularly to Facebook as well.

Binding Your Quilt

Learn all the different ways to finish the edge of your completed quilt, Samples of standard binding, bias binding curves, facing finish, and prairie points will be made in class, providing a reference for the future. Some pre-class preparation required.

The Audrey wrap skirt comes in 2 lengths and is fully reversible. Students will learn how to read a pattern and construct a simple garment, how to topstitch, and how to make a buttonhole. Class requires pattern purchase

Rug Hooking Club

Join Terry and Kathy and the Aggieland Rug Hookers as we hook the day away! Bring a brown bag lunch and whatever project you are working on. This group is great fun and you will learn lots of tips. Don't rug hook and would like to learn? We have all the supplies you will need and teach classes by request. Know of somebody who rug hooks? Please let them know we have lots of wool in many different colors.

Class Notes

If you are interested in taking a class and are unable to attend, just find a friend or a group of friends and LSQW will schedule a time with the teacher so you may take the class. Please purchase all materials for your class ahead of time.  Due to copyright issues no sharing of patterns or books during class will be allowed. 

Please arrive at class fifteen minutes early to allow time for setup.  Please do not arrive any earlier than this time!

Many classes require some prep work to be done before class. Arriving unprepared will prevent your class from proceeding smoothly. Please be sure to review the entire pattern/book before class.


BSS (basic sewing supplies) are required for most classes (scissors, pins, rulers, thread, et cetera). Double-check to make sure you have your foot pedal and cord for your machine.


As a courtesy to your fellow students please silence your cell phones or set them to vibrate. If you need to take a call during class, please step outside.

We ask that you refrain from wearing strong perfumes.
Let Norma show you some short cuts to piece these placemats and table runner together in five easy steps. This is a great idea for when you need to make a gift in a hurry. Norma says you can make these "in 25 minutes." Okay...45 minutes if you include cutting the material. You will be amazed at how fast you can whip these up. Great class for beginners or anyone who wants to do something quick and easy. Please note pattern is included in the class price!

Join Bea Brock, owner of Hill Country Rug Works and author of Scrappy Hooked Rugs as we present a three day color planning and rug hooking workshop. Students will need to purchase a pattern ahead of time from Bea’s website from the Floral Inspiration section. Day one will include color planning, and days two and three will include hooking. An optional lunch may be added each day for $10 extra. You will need to bring a set of Prisma colored pencils, 48 or more. Questions? Please call the shop.

A Sassy Modern Quilt pattern that will "Rock Your Quilting World" - Norma is very excited about this new class and to teach you some new tricks. If you are ready to step out of the box, let Norma show you how to make these fancy triangles within a triangle and make a one-of-a kind quilt. Beautifulquilt that will give you a "Wow" experience.

Come and join Betty while we explore the book Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt. These are some of the cutest farm blocks that any country gal could wish for! Betty will give construction tips each month for 6 blocks. Club will meet the second Wednesday of each month at either 10A or 6P. Purchase of book required to participate. All blocks are rotary cut and machine pieced. Club is a 9 month commitment.

Let Norma help you make your very first quilt in this class! Learn about measuring, rotary cutting, and simple piecing. We'll finish the edge with a continuous machine binding and tie the layers together to complete this crib size quilt. Basic knowledge of your sewing machine is expected. Required text is First-Time Quiltmaking.

Come and spend the day rug hooking with our local guild and some of our out of town friends. Bring a salad to share and whatever project you are working on. Want to learn to rug hook? We do teach classes at the shop. For more information please call 979 595 1072.

Join famous quilt artist and fabric designer Jacqueline de Jonge all the way from The Netherlands as we welcome her to our shop. Jacqueline will be teaching her special paper piecing method using a small quilt pattern called Happiness. If desired you can purchase a kit from us for the project! Class is a two day session, with part two being held Thursday, April 14th.

Do you have a favorite Wedding Ring pattern by Judy Niemeyer / Quiltworx that you are wanting to dive into? Bring it to the Wedding Ring class with Jan Mathews, Certified Judy Niemeyer / Quiltworx Instructor to learn the various techniques used to complete this traditional pattern. Any pattern will work for this class, including: Bali Wedding Star (quilt or bed runner), Flowers for My Wedding Ring, Cotton Candy Sawtooth Wedding Ring, Princess Tiara Wedding Ring, Art Deco Sawtooth Wedding Ring, Allisyn’s Wedding Ring, Geese at My Wedding Table Runner, Wedding Ring Bed Runner, Grandma’s Wedding Ring……as long as it is a Judy Niemeyer / Quiltworx wedding ring pattern, it is welcome for this class. Please note this is a 3 day class, part 2 and 3 will be held on March 2nd and 3rd.

Explore the possibilities of machine embroidery. We will meet each month and complete a small project. Open to all machine brands. A supply list will be available each month in advance, with some supplies included in the club price. We will order out for lunch or you may brown bag.

Complete your quilting projects in days instead of weeks! Learn to do free-motion machine quilting on your very own sewing machine. The class covers marking, basting, stippling, and the all important free motion technique used to follow marked lines.. A marked fabric and batting sandwiched sample will be provided as part of the class fee for you to practice with!

Let Norma show you how to create this "Wedding Ring" look alike. The Metro Rings quilt pattern is a continuation of using the "Quick Curve Ruler" and learning to sew Curves without pinning or marking. Great Traditional Look -- Resembles the Wedding Ring Quilt. A Jelly Roll, some background fabric and YOU will create this sweet quilt. Pre-Cutting is required.

This class is for individuals who are familiar with, and who have practiced, quilting on a domestic machine. Deb will introduce her method of Progressive Quilting, in which machine quilting is done as the quilt is assembled. This eliminates the need to roll the quilt to fit in the space to the right of the needle. Intrigued? Join Deb for more info. Prerequisite is Deb’s Machine Quilting class or machine quilting experience.

The Rainy Day Raincoat is a sweet hooded raincoat or runabout jacket in laminated fabric for a lightweight lined raincoat or in home dec. fabric for a sunny day runabout. Two pockets styles and a generous hood with tons of great finish details are included. In this class students will learn detailed pattern reading, how to work with laminated fabrics, how to make buttonholes and covered buttons, and how to line a jacket. Penelope is a feminine and comfy shirt or dress for beginner sewists or confident sewist just beginning to sew with knits. Penelope has a rounded v-neck with tiny gathers at the v for added charm and comfort. Pattern includes cap or longer ¾ kimono sleeve options. Traditional or lettuce hem may be used. In this class students will learn how to read the pattern/terminology, how to work with knit fabrics, how to construct a simple garment, and learn hemming and neckline treatments. Let Norma show you in this class how to cut, stabilize and sew your t-shirts to make a traditional style quilt. Armando (the best sewing machine repair guy) is going to be at the shop on Thursday 2/25/2016. He can clean and repair any make or model of sewing machine, serger, or embroidery machine. When others say your machine is not repairable, leave it for Armando. Drop off is by Wednesday 2/24/2016 at 6 PM and pick it up Friday 2/26/2016. No waiting for your machine for weeks on end!
